Motherhood has a way of shifting your priorities almost overnight. What used to matter suddenly doesn’t, and the things you once overcomplicated start feeling… unnecessary.
In this season of motherhood, with two newborn twins, a 4, a 5, and a 16-year-old, I’m not chasing perfection. I’m focusing on what actually helps me feel better day to day — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Simple routines. Fewer expectations. And choosing things that work with my life instead of against it.
This season of motherhood is both a challenge and a joy, especially as I navigate the chaos of having twins in this season of motherhood.
This season looks different from what I imagined, and that’s okay.
Letting Go of “Doing It All”
There was a time when I felt pressure to do everything, and not only doing everything, but doing it the “right” way, the perfect routines, the perfect schedule, the perfect balance. But motherhood has taught me that doing it all often leads to burnout.
Right now, I’m letting go of:
- Overpacked schedules
- Complicated routines (My kids thrive on routine- I’m talking about reducing steps in them)
- Unrealistic expectations
Instead, I’m choosing ease and flexibility, even if that means things look simpler than they used to.
This season of motherhood helps me focus on what really matters.
Choosing Energy Over Perfection
One of the biggest shifts I’ve made is prioritizing energy and peacefulness instead of appearance or productivity. Having infant twins gave me a whole new perspective.
If something helps me:
- Feel more awake
- Stay regulated
- Get through the day with less stress
…it’s worth it.
That might mean choosing comfort over aesthetics, rest over productivity, or routines that feel repetitive but supportive. This season is about sustainability, not performance.
Keeping Routines Simple and Realistic
I’m focusing on routines I can actually stick to, even on the hard days.
Each day in this season of motherhood brings its own set of challenges and triumphs.
That looks like:
- Getting outside for fresh air (weather permitting… this winter has been ROUGH!)
- Gentle movement instead of intense workouts
- Simple skincare, beauty, and wellness routines
- Drinking enough water
Every small win in this season of motherhood counts.
Nothing extreme. Nothing all-or-nothing. Just habits that help me feel more like myself.

Feeling Good Instead of “Looking Put Together”
This season has taught me that feeling good matters more than looking done.
When I feel supported, hydrated, rested, and comfortable, everything else feels easier. Confidence comes from feeling okay in your body, not from checking every box.
Finding joy in this season of motherhood is essential for my well-being.
This mindset shift has made a bigger difference than any trend or routine ever did.
Giving Myself Permission to Evolve
This season of motherhood teaches me the importance of self-care.
In this season of motherhood, I strive to maintain balance.
This season of motherhood is all about learning and growing.
Motherhood isn’t static. What works now may not work later, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
I’m giving myself permission to:
Every moment in this season of motherhood is precious.
- Change routines
- Lower the bar when needed
- Adapt without guilt
This season deserves grace, not pressure.
A Few Everyday Things Supporting Me Lately
This season of motherhood helps me appreciate the little things.
Final Thoughts
If you’re in a season of motherhood where everything feels simpler, slower, or different than it used to, you’re not doing anything wrong. Seasons change, priorities shift, and the version of motherhood you’re living right now is allowed to look exactly how it needs to.
This phase isn’t about doing more or keeping up with someone else’s version of “having it together.” It’s about choosing what supports you in real life. That might mean shorter routines, fewer expectations, or redefining what self-care and wellness look like day to day.
Motherhood doesn’t require perfection to be meaningful. It requires presence, adaptability, and a whole lot of grace — especially toward yourself. Some days will feel productive and energizing, while others will feel quiet or heavy. Both are part of the journey.
If there’s one thing this season has taught me, it’s that small, consistent choices matter more than big, dramatic changes. Drinking enough water, getting fresh air, choosing comfort, and letting go of unnecessary pressure all add up in ways we don’t always notice right away.
So if you’re navigating a similar season, consider this your reminder: you don’t need to rush through it. You’re allowed to slow down, simplify, and choose what makes motherhood feel more manageable right now. This season deserves patience, compassion, and flexibility… and so do you.
